Our genealogist, Garth Ulrich announced a new project at the 2011 stevne. We would like to collect as many obituaries of emigrants from Sigdal, Eggedal and Krødsherad as we can. We will need your help to do this. If you have the obituary of your ancestor(s) who emigrated from Sigdal, Eggedal or Krødsherad, please submit it via e-mail attachment or regular post. If you can scan the obituary digitally, please attach the scanned image to an e-mail to addressed to webmaster@sigdalslag.org. Stay tuned to find out where photocopied versions can be mailed. |

A large group of Norwegians traveled to America the summer of 2011 and their trip included the 7-Lag Stevne and Sigdalslag’s Centennial Celebration in Fargo, North Dakota. About 100 people registered for the trip, visiting places in America where their ancestors traveled long, long ago. The Sigdal Museum and the Bygdeposten newspaper arranged the trip. Sigrid Kvisle of the Sigdal Musum and Birger Moen of the Bygdeposten are pictured with an American flag and an old trunk that is similar to trunks that many emigrants from Norway would have used over a century ago. |
