Eggedal is an ecclesiastical division rather than a political division. It consists of
the northwestern half of Sigdal Kommune, the part served by the Eggedal
Church. The church is located near the center of the parish, at the northwest tip of
the valley. To the southeast, there is nice farmland on the valley floor.
In all other directions the terrain rises quite steeply. Nevertheless,
farming is done on the rather steep slopes.
Just north of the church, up the slope, is the farm Hagen which for many
years was the home and studio of the renowned Norwegian artist Christian
Skredsvig. The buildings are now a museum.
