 Emigrants leaving their homeland.
In the year 2000 many Norwegian locales staged celebrations commemorating the 175th anniversary of the first organized emigation from Norway to America, The celebration in Sigdal, Eggedal and Krødsherad was staged June 20-24. Sigdalslag members were invited to take part.

Building on the above invitation, Sigdalslag members Larry and Linda Rolfstad organized and led a bus tour of Norway which was joined by 47 other lag members. The stops were: Lillihammer (June 12-13), Elveseter (June 14), Loen (June 15), Voss (June 16-17), Fagerness (June 18), the Emigrant Jubilee (June 19-24), and Oslo (June 25). The tour included many scenic stops, and cruises on the Geiranger and Sogne Fjords. It was an unforgettable tour.

During the Jubilee some of the tour participants stayed in the homes of their distant Norwegian relatives. Others stayed with volunteer host families or in hotels. The organized events included a re-enactment of an emigrant voyage from Norway to America. The voyage began at a small mountain farm near Lake Krøderen. After a cruise on the lake (to simulate crossing the ocean) and ride on a vintage train (simulating travel in America), the voyage ended at "Wild West City" in Modum. It was, again, an experience that participants will never forget.
